Organizational Structure
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
In an effort to continue the association’s growth and vitality, there will be a continual process of renewal among the leadership. There will be set terms of office for every officer of the association and every job description spelling out duties and expectations. The number of committee members and elected officers will vary depending on the size and needs of the association’s membership.
The organizational structure includes the following roles:
PATRONS
It is useful to have teachers or senior alumnus who can lend their name and status to the organization as well as their contacts. Therefore, we have chosen the following teachers and seniors from the earliest batch residing in the United States to be our respected patrons. They are not required to attend committee meetings.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
President Reshma Ali Mahmood, MD, FACP
- Duties include:
- Presiding at all meetings of the association and committee.
- Representing the association in its dealings with other organizations or people outside the association.
- Serving as the association’s liaison with the Office of International Alumni Programs (if any) at the Medical College.
Vice President
Tazeen Beg, MD
- Duties include:
- Responsibility for all correspondence and recording of minutes of meetings, communicating them to each committee member and to the Office of International Alumni Programs (if any) at the Medical College.
- Preparing agendas for meetings in consultation with the President.
- Ensuring that notices of meetings are sent to association members as required.
Secretary
Sadia Chaghtai, MD
- Duties include:
- Performing the duties of Secretary in his or her absence and assisting as needed.
- The committee may wish to consider designating this post later as Secretary.
Joint Secretary Gaurav K. Gupta, MD, PhD
- Duties include:
- Performing the duties of Secretary in his or her absence and assisting as needed.
- The committee may wish to consider designating this post later as Secretary.
Treasurer Huma Ansari, MBBS
- Duties include:
- Responsibility for the finances of the association, for maintaining accurate records and for preparing an annual statement of the association’s accounts.
- Setting up systems to deal with the association’s finances.
- Overseeing annual membership subscriptions and fees, if applicable, in conjunction with the Membership Secretary.
Joint Treasurer Asif Sultan, MS
- Duties include:
- Performing the duties of the Treasurer in his/her absence.
- Helping in the maintenance of financial records and membership subscriptions and fees.
- The committee may wish to consider designating this post later as Treasurer.
Canadian Association Liaison Huma Kazmi, MD, FRCPC
- Duties include:
- Representing the association in Canada and acting as a liaison between the association and its Canadian membership

Dr. Shamsi, MD, PhD, co-founder and principal of RadMD is a radiologist with 25+ years of clinical development experience for drugs and devices.

Dr. Ashraf Khan received his medical (MBBS) degree in 1980 from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh, India following which he did 3-year postgraduate training (MD) in Pathology and then joined as a lecturer in Pathology at the same institution in 1983. In 1985 Dr. Khan moved to England where he trained in Histopathology at Lewisham and Guy’s Hospital of the University of London. This training included experience of working at the Hedley Atkins Breast Unit of the Imperial Cancer Research Foundation at Guy’s Hospital under Dr. Rosemary Millis an internationally recognized breast pathologist who inspired him to become interested in breast pathology. After serving as a senior Registrar in Histopathology for 3 years at Guy’s Hospital and passing the MRCPath examination, Dr. Khan migrated to the United States in 1993 to join as a Surgical Pathology Fellow at University of Massachusetts Medical Center (UMMC). This one-year fellowship was followed by his appointment as an Assistant Professor in Pathology at UMMC in 1994, and worked his way up to his present position as Professor of Pathology (since 2005). He is currently the Director of Surgical Pathology and served as Director of Pathology Residency Program from 2001-08 at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is actively involved in the UMASS medical center and medical school administrative functions serving on the Faculty Council, Medical School Admissions Committee, Cancer Committee, and Director of Clinical Labs at UMASS’s Hahnemann and Memorial campuses and Quality Assurance Coordinator of the Hospital Tumor Registry among others.
